Conference Following the success of six fintech conferences from 2017 to 2022, the Shanghai Institute of International Finance Centre (SIIFC) at Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, the University of Edinburgh Business School and the Bartlett School of Sustainable Construction at University College London are organising the 7th conference on 11 November 2023.
The field of financial technology (FinTech) is experiencing a burgeoning literature that includes detailed characterisations of emerging technologies as well as comprehensive analyses of how these innovations are reshaping financing and investment behaviour. The primary objective of this event is to showcase exemplary academic research focused on financial technology. The organising committee warmly welcomes studies that provide ground-breaking insights into contemporary research issues. Potential topics for submissions may cover a wide range, including, but not limited to, the complex interactions between financial technologies (e.g., blockchain, cryptocurrency, non-fungible tokens, machine learning, generative artificial intelligence) and diverse areas such as capital markets, corporate finance, corporate governance, ESG (environmental, social, and governance), financial development, financial inclusion, financial intermediation, and financial regulation. We particularly welcome submissions that address the areas of generative AI and ChatGPT.
There is no registration fee for speakers. This conference also includes a high-profile forum which brings together key policy makers and top professionals.
Publication Opportunities
Founded in 1969 by the British Accounting and Finance Association (BAFA), the British Accounting Review (BAR) is eclectic and pluralistic, publishing original and high-quality manuscripts in both accounting and finance. Evidence from both UK and non-UK sources is equally acceptable. BAR has achieved an Impact Factor of 5.1 and a CiteScore of 7.2 for 2022, making it a highly ranked journal in accounting and finance. It is also rated A* in the ABDC Journal Quality List. The editors of the British Accounting Review encourage conference papers to be submitted to the journal for possible publication in a special issue on Fintech.
Acceptance in the conference does not grantee final publication; and the submissions to the special issue are not limited to conference participants. The purpose of the conference is to provide feedback for authors to improve their manuscripts.
The Journal of Financial Intermediation aims to publish research in the broad areas of financial intermediation, investment banking, corporate finance, financial contracting, financial regulation and credit markets. (CiteScore: 7.1; Impact Factor: 5.2). It's an ABS-4 journal. The editor will invite a number of conference papers for submission to the journal under a standard peer review process.

Call for Research Notes on Generative AI and ChatGPT - The British Accounting Review The British Accounting Review also welcomes submissions of concise research notes. These research notes are designed to provide timely, incisive analyses of emerging and significant issues, offering unique insights for rapid dissemination within the scholarly community. It is important to note that such abbreviated research formats are considered only when comprehensive settings for more in-depth analyses are unavailable. Typically, these research notes should not exceed 3,000 words in length. Regardless of their brevity, it is essential that the empirical analyses contained within these notes are rigorously grounded in relevant theoretical frameworks. The standard submission guidelines and review processes, as stipulated by the journal, apply uniformly to these submissions as well. The world of generative artificial intelligence (AI) and chatGPT is expanding rapidly, opening up new horizons for data interpretation, strategic decision making and predictive modelling. In light of these developments, the British Accounting Review is seeking research notes (approximately 3000 words) focusing on the use of generative AI and ChatGPT in accounting and finance. Research notes serve as a platform for disseminating prompt and concise findings, pioneering methodologies, and nascent trends within unexplored research areas. This call provides a unique opportunity to contribute to the evolving discourse on generative AI and ChatGPT, and their transformative implications on traditional practices. We are particularly interested in research notes that offer fresh perspectives in areas such as auditing, algorithmic trading, ethical considerations and implications, financial statement analysis, fraud detection, investment decision making, risk assessment and forecasting, among others.
